I've made the V1 mount, and some hotend tools, and I must say that I am incredibly satisfied. The V1 mount is slightly different than I showed in my previous post. It is still based around a Maxwell kinematic coupling, and the coupling works wonderfully. Tools click in consistently, and hold well with no wiggle. Additionally, the position seems to be very consistent. I can remove and replace the hotend tool without needing to recalibrate its position. Overall I am very happy with the V1 mount design.
There are a few concerns. The first is that the V1 mount is wider than is needed. This width was intended for a servo to more solidly attach the tool to the mount, but I later realized that a servo would not fit in that position. This both reduces the available build area on the printer, and requires the more space to store the tools. Also, it is quite difficult to print hotend tools for the V1 mount. Maxwell couplings consists of three balls fitting into three tracks. These balls are on the bottom of the tool, which makes it difficult to print. To prevent support material from ruining the surface of the balls on the bottom, I have to print it in a weird orientation that requires a lot of support material and a lot of cleanup.
